"desu" is the simplest structure in japanese (pronounced as "des") just like when we're saying "ohayo gozaimasu", (good morning) 'gozaimasu' is pronounced as 'gozaimas' .. u became silent."Desu" means 'it is', 'those are', or 'it's'. You can also have this format "I am _name_ desu"

 example:
when you happen to see a cat, which is 'neko' in japanese, you would probably say:
> "neko desu"
literally means 'it's a cat' or 'those are cats'.
'Inu' is the japanese for dog:
> "inu desu"
'it's a dog' or 'those are dogs'
> "yuki desu"
means 'I am yuki'
you can introduce yourself by saying just like this structure.
